At Nevomo we are developing MagRail, a technology that enables a quick, phased implementation of hyperloop-inspired transportation technology within railroads’ systems. Our technology will enable the transportation of goods and people at double the average speed of a conventional railway. We can upgrade existing railway infrastructure to the speed of 550 kph (340 mph) at a very competitive cost. MagRail, based on magnetic levitation, linear motor, and autonomous control systems, can be subsequently transformed into a vacuum version called the hyperloop.
We have developed a unique technology for a MagRail system - a passive magnetic levitation train operating on existing railway tracks at speeds up to 550 kph (340 mph). This hybrid solution allows for the functionality of both the MagRail system and conventional trains on the same tracks. Our ultimate goal - hyperloop will require new dedicated infrastructure. It will enable the vehicles to travel at up to 1,200 kph (746 mph).
Hyperloop is a cross between a train and an airplane. It will enable travel between Frankfurt and Berlin in 30 minutes, traveling near the speed of sound. The pod moves in a special tube, in which air pressure is as low as it is at an altitude of 10 km, which greatly reduces air resistance. It travels without contact with the tunnel using magnetic levitation.
We spend an increasing amount of time moving around, and thanks to Nevomo’s technologies we can become more efficient in the use of our most precious commodity - time.
Irreversible environmental changes are happening every day. Transport is responsible for CO2 emissions, noise pollution, degradation of water resources and it impacts the living habitats of wild animals. At Nevomo we are committed to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
The company consists of a multidisciplinary team of experts with experience gained from among others: Airbus, Bombardier, Shinkansen. Our team was the finalist of the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition (2017) and the finalist of Build Earth Live Dubai (2016). Our main partners include Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, IDOM, Railway Research Institute, National Centre for Research, and Development and University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer. In 2019 we were classified by Lufthansa Innovation Hub among 150 top mobility startups. In 2020 we were awarded as the Most Innovative Railway Construction Company in Europe by the BUILD magazine.
