What are „cookies”?
„Cookies” are small text files that are placed on the user’s computer when visiting websites. They are widely used to serve websites or to ensure their more efficient operation, as well as to provide information to the owners of these websites.
The use of cookies is currently the standard for most websites. If the user does not want to receive cookies, he can manage and control them via a browser. They can also be removed by deleting from the „browsing history” (cache memory) at the exit of a given page.
Types of „cookie” files
’Temporary’ cookies related to the session remain in the browser only for the duration of the session, i.e. until they exit the site.
’Persistent’ cookies remain in the browser after the session (unless they are removed by the user).
’Analytical’ cookies collect information about the use of a given website, such as pages visited by a given user and any error messages; they do not collect information enabling identification of the user, and the collected data are aggregated in such a way that they become anonymous. Analytical cookies are used to improve the website’s performance.
’Functional’ cookies allow the site to remember any choices made on pages (such as changing the font size, customizing the page) and allow services such as adding comments on someone’s blog.
